Tuesday, December 9th, for a reception with a delegation from Tashkent.
Please mark your calendars for sure for this date! We have recently received the final confirmation that a delegation will be coming from Tashkent, and also Ambassador Kamilov, the Uzbek ambassador to the United States, will be coming.
This is part of the continued celebration of the 35th anniversary of the sister city relationship. There was the reunion on April 5th with over 200 hundred people in attendance with many special guests (former mayors of Seattle, city council members, Ambassador Kamilov, and of course, past and present STSCA members and directors), and then the Seattle delegation to Tashkent in August/September, a grand event in the Peace Park in Tashkent during that trip, and now a delegation from Tashkent coming to Seattle.
Please RSVP to me right away if you are planning on coming to the reception on December 9th. The details are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, December 9th
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm
Location: ACT (A Contemporary Theater) near the convention center on 700 Union St. in Seattle in the Bullitt Cabaret Room

RSVP: Please RSVP to me if you are attending, plus, to order tickets now, please send your name(s), make a check out to the STSCA, and mail it by Dec. 3rd to STSCA, P.O. Box 25364, Seattle, WA. 98165. After Dec. 3rd, you will need to purchase your tickets at the door. But, we will still need your RSVP by Dec. 5th so we get an accurate dinner count.
Donations: If you are able to help donate to this event, to help defray some of the costs, then please do so.
We need your help! To make this delegation successful, we need help each day that they are in Seattle. Please send me an email if you can help with the following activities:
Interpreting services: We need translators each day that the delegation is here (from Dec. 7th to Dec. 11th) Even helping one day would be great!
Drivers: Are you willing to help drive delegation members to various events while they are here? Even one day would be super!
Reception volunteers: We need helpers to set up and clean up the room, ticket takers, and general volunteers.
Photographer: We need someone to offer to take pictures to document this event.
Thank You For Your Support:
We want to thank all of you for your previous assistance and support for sister city activities. In the spring, for the April 5th reunion, many of you made monetary contributions to make that event successful, and we had scores of volunteers as well to make it a tremendous reunion.
Then, beginning with that event, and continuing for eight weeks, we held a charitable matching grant activity that raised money for sister city activities. Funds submitted to the sister city were matched by a generous grant from the Peg and Rick Young Foundation. We received contributions from 60 people and then with corporate matches we raised a total of $7,885. We are so thankful to all of you! These funds provide support for sister city activities, such as the reception this fall, purchase of a bench for the Peace Park in Tashkent, funding artist(s) coming next summer, and many other sister city activities.
We look forward to your continued participation with the sister city and seeing you at the reception on December 9th.
