Uzbek Ambassador to UN to Speak in Seattle!

Please join us for a special event with the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Nations and Consul General at the UN for Uzbekistan!

When: Monday, January 9th, 5:30pm-7 pm
Where: University of Washington campus, Seattle--Thomson Hall, Room 317
Cost: Free, no need to RSVP

This event features Murad Askarov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Nations. He'll talk about Silk Road tourism as well as current events in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Other special guests include Consul General at the UN for Uzbekistan, Dr. Durbek Amanov, and Gary Furlong, Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Voice of America Airs Series on Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Association

Wednesday, November 30, 2011 - Voice of America Uzbek journalist Navbahor Imamova visted Seattle this fall to research and shoot a series of reports on Seattle, and Seattle's historic sister-city relationship with Tashkent. The fourth inher VOA series began airing worldwide today, with a 10-minute video report with Seatty city officials: former Mayor Wes Uhlman and Seattle City Councilmember Sally Clark.

In the first video report,·Imamova does an extended interview with Gary Furlong, Uzbek Honorary Consul General.· In the second report, she interviews Helen Holter,· Dan Peterson, and Margaret Hopstein.·The third report features an Uzbek family in Seattle--Anton Seyduzov, Lola Zakhorova and their children--as well as Annie Lucas of MIR Corporation.
